The Vision: For metro-Oklahoma City to be the best city to raise a child.
The Mission: To nurture a culture of learning by empowering effective efforts (bright spots), engaging individual networks and talents (connection), and generating momentum for new initiatives to realize flourishing communities (incubation). We are interested in how the children in our city can flourish in all areas of education and learning.

There are many statistics and stories to historically paint the picture of an education "culture" that is not flourishing in metro-Oklahoma City. A small glimpse of some of those issues include: over 35,000 students live at or below the poverty line. 90% of men incarcerated in Oklahoma prisons do not have a high school degree, and students from affluent communities report a significantly higher substance abuse than urban students.
We desire for metro-Oklahoma City to be a city that nurtures trustworthy local leadership and creatively collaborates with the body of Christ while engaging the seven mountains of influence: arts and entertainment, business, education, family, government, media and religion.
Our strategy of recognizing that "people" and "place" are inseparable for inspiriting life-long learners will affect every aspect of community development. Most importantly, we seek to honor the God-ordained role of active parenting in the home while understanding the parents are shaping the architects for repairing the world. (Isaiah 61, Revelation 21:22).
The Education Circle is currently folded into the “How Are the Children?” Circle. It is also connected to The Poiesis Group which is committed to bringing together the leading culture-makers in education in order to elevate the conversation around what intentional, deliberate human making can and should be; creating space for rest, relationship, and vigorous discussion as we grapple with the deep questions inherent in the field of education; and making Oklahoma City the premier place for progressive, innovative, imaginative, transformative praxis in education.

*Out of the Education Clapham Circle, a group of SALLT alumni have joined together to launch The Poiesis Forum. Their hope is to engage leading culture-makers in education to elevate the conversation around what intentional, deliberate human making can and should be; as well as create an origination point/place for progressive, innovative, imaginative, transformative praxis in education.
**Young Men’s Discipleship Community (YMDC), a teaching/mentoring experience for young men in Northeast Oklahoma City, grew out of the Education Circle. Because of the high number of abortions in the African American community, they have chosen “life” as one of their initiatives.
